ACLElite – MD5: Facts & Figures

Record run
Al Ahli Saudi FC stayed perfect with a fifth consecutive win – a new record for the Saudi Arabian side on the continental stage. The victory meant they are also unbeaten on the continent in their last 10 matches – a run of seven wins and three draws.

Vargas joins Oscar’s club
Matias Vargas is the second Shanghai Port player to score a hat-trick against Ulsan HD, with Oscar having done the same in the 2019 season. Vargas is also the first Argentine to net a treble in the AFC Champions League since the 2012 season.

Toney in English class
Al Ahli Saudi FC’s Ivan Toney is the fourth English player to score in the AFC Champions League since 2013, following Jordon Mutch (Gyeongnam), Adam Le Fondre (Sydney) and Carl Jenkinson (Melbourne). Toney scored his two goals with just two touches inside the Al Ain FC penalty area.
Impressive Marinos
Yokohama F. Marinos have won each of their last 10 home games on the continental stage, joining Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad (from 2012 to 2014) in recording the longest home winning streak in the competition’s history.

Ronaldo helps Al Nassr to new landmark
Cristiano Ronaldo’s first goal against Qatar’s Al Gharafa was the Al Nassr Club’s 100th in AFC Champions League history. The brace was the second the Portuguese star has scored in Asian competition and made him Al Nassr’s third all-time top scorer in the AFC Champions League (including qualifiers) with 10 goals, behind Talisca (11) and Abderrazak Hamdallah (16). Ronaldo is also Al Nassr’s second-highest foreign scorer in all competitions (77 goals, tied with Talisca) with Hamdallah (115) in front.

Lethal Asani
Gwangju FC’s Jasir Asani scored the winner against Shanghai Shenhua with his only touch in the opposition box as the Albanian striker took his tally to seven goals. Asani has registered the highest shot conversion ratio (58% – 7/12 including blocks) in the AFC Champions League Elite.

Al Hilal’s multiple sources
Al Hilal SFC’s winning run may have been ended by the 1-1 draw with Qatar’s Al Sadd SC but the four-time Asian champions are, by far, the most potent side in the AFC Champions League Elite this season with Ali Al Bulayhi their ninth different player to find the back of the net, with the side from Saudi Arabia topping the charts with 17 goals.
Al Wasl on a roll
Al Wasl’s 3-1 win over Iraq’s Al Shorta took their points tally to 10, the most the UAE side have ever accumulated in a single edition of the continental showpiece. Their good run means Al Wasl are one victory away from booking their ticket to the knockout stage.
